About John Haderlein

John Haderlein is an experienced bankruptcy attorney who has been licensed to practice law since 1988.  He is licensed in Illinois and California, and is admitted to practice before U.S. Federal District Court, allowing him to try cases in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois.   John’s interest in bankruptcy law began when he clerked for the Legal Assistance Foundation of Chicago, and continued through his law school training at DePaul University College of Law in Chicago.    After a few years in private practice, John devoted 13 years to the State of Illinois, where he worked as an attorney with the Illinois Department of Human Services and the Illinois Finance Authority.    Although John maintained a part-time private practice during his years as a government attorney, he returned to private practice full-time after leaving the State of Illinois in 2004.  Over time, John has concentrated his practice in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy law.   John has handled foreclosure defense, short sales, and other real estate matters related to our country’s current mortgage crisis.  A Chicago native, John now lives with his two children in Libertyville, and practices there and in Chicago.  In his free time, John is an avid filmmaker, actor and writer.
